When Kiesha is in charge

Parker and Kiesha spent an evening together a couple of weeks ago. There is a reason why he loves loves loves, his Auntie Kie Kie. She found a camera in our house and captured "A day in the life of Parker".

The funniest part of all, is that everything she captured, are all obvious "No Touches" in our home.

Oh Me Oh My

This is an expression used by Blake and me to describe a variety of things. It could be a fabulous chocolate chunk cookie, a darling art project, or a smell coming from Parker. Yesterday it described a State Patrol Officer. I was taking Blake to a birthday party that started at 2:45 in the afternoon. (Soooo, toddlers don't nap?) We were headed down I-5 in the HOV lane and I noticed a cop car pull out of the median. As I made my way towards the right lanes, aiming for 405, he was making his move as well. I started to panic. The kind of panic where your hands get really sweaty, your stomach stops functioning and you just keep answering yes to all of the questions from your 3 year old. On come the lights, over pulls Wendy. I am in such a state of terror that I have pulled out all appropriate paperwork and begun to pray. The officer comes up to the passenger side door, takes a look in the back and says, "Oh great, just didn't see the little guy there." What? No really, what? I looked him straight in the face and in this high pitch voice squealed, "But I had my cruise control SET!!" Blake then asks, "Mommy, why is there a police man standing at the window?" I took a deep breath and said, "Oh, he just wanted to stop by and say hi to you." Blake then screams out, "But I am in my new carseat, AND I am wearing my seatbelt!" Whoa.

I guess all of this would not have been that big of a deal, if it wasn't for the fact that two days earlier, I had been pulled over for speeding. Huh.

Everyone Loves "Pee Grable"

For the last 2 months, I have been scouring Craigslist for a sand table for our boys. We need outside activities in our backyard. The kind that don't require Mommy pushing, pulling, or picking up. Since I am not a large plastic toy lover, we decided to get a little creative and turn a small section of our side yard into a gravel play area. This way, I can sit and watch the boys fight over the $.99 Target toys from the back patio, or the kitchen. I was quite pleased with myself, purchasing 2 of every toy in coordinating colors. My pleasure disapated today when Blake was dancing over his little brother with two rakes, while pea gravel was being poured over Parker's head. And of course, Parker was screaming. I love summer.

The Little Zoo

We headed down the street from our house to Forest Park on Monday, because Blake told me that going to Seattle to the big zoo, was too far away. My three year old fully grasps the concept of a recession, and the high gas prices. He even has his own bag of white rice. One per family member.

Parker was beside himself at the animals walking around, that he just stood there and screamed at them. Blake, continued to ask me for 30 minutes why there were locks on the bunny cages. At minute 28, I was tempted to tell him, "Because they will eat you."

The Letter of The Day!

So on our way to the Post Office and Bank this evening, we passed by this new memorial monument store where you purchase headstones. Dave stated that he would would like to be buried next to the stone sculpture of the grizzly bear, while I preferred the slouched over angel holding a marble heart (hopefully with my face etched into the stone). Quickly, as if on cue, Blake states, "I want the t!" Kind of like the day when I explained why we celebrate Easter, as Jesus died on the cross for our sins. "Like when Daddy has to say sorry to Mommy" I explained, and Blake asks, "So did Jesus say sorry for dying on the cross Mommy?" Goodness sakes. A cross, a T, there is no difference to a three year old.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Monday marked 33 years of Dave. We have the world's greatest man living in our house, and is cute to boot! The boys and I delivered balloons to Dave's office this morning, picked out by Mr. Blake. When asked who was on the balloon, he stated, "sesamestreet.com" What? After a mexican feast and a couple matchbox cars, the boys ended up with Dave's birthday present from Chevy's. At the end of the night, Dave ended up with a wheel barrow. He was beside himself. No joke.

Earning Your Keep

Don't judge me. Everyone does their part around here. We used up all the windex, and hopefully cleaned it out really well. Parker now picks up a squirt bottle and yells at me ("Naaa, Naaa, Naaa") until I give him a baby wipe. This is the most wonderful way to occupy a good 7, maybe 8 minutes (if we are lucky) of quality time. My windows currently look disgusting, thanks to my children.
