Yay Mother's Day!

Nothing is better than the gifts little people give. Be it "Happy Moder's Day to You" sung over and over at the highest volume, or the chance to change another dirty diaper on your special day. Blake made me the most darling tealight holder at preschool and was beyond thrilled to wake me up yesterday by throwing it in my face. Parker's gift was the gift of being needed. He was sooooo clingy all day and I think it is because he is being "gifted" with a couple of new teeth. The last present of the day was the highlight. We went to bed about 10, after Dave willingly, without being asked, watched Desperate Housewives with me (between that and a new BBQ, what else could a girl want?) We walked into Blake's room and both burst out laughing. See, earlier in the evening, we had him unzip his footy jammies, wear a chain necklace and walk around the house saying, "Hey there baby baby" while he waved his tummy back and forth. At 10:15 last night, Blake was out cold. There he was laying in his bed, jammies unzipped completely, bare legs straight out, his undies in all their glory, and his arms still in his Pj's. Oooh, Baby Baby. When we attempted a recap this morning, he declared, "I wanted to wear socks and Jammie pants with holes in the bottom! These jammies don't fit. They are too small." There you have it. And all along we thought he wanted to play "Boolaylay" again.

Bling Bling Ring Ring

We ran to the mall this morning after a wild time at Jump Planet and hopped into a jewelry store to get my ring cleaned. While we were waiting for the sparkles to reappear, Blake pulled up a stool and started pouring over the most beautiful diamond rings. He looked the lady square in the face and said, "I want to get my Mommy one of these." They worked together at selecting the perfect diamond ring for me while I pretended not to look. My favorite line consisted of, "No, no, my Mommy wouldn't want that one. She wants one with a bigger diamond." I LOVE this kid!

Flying to Heaven

My dearest Grammy went to be with Jesus last Wednesday. Blake understands that Jesus invited her to dinner at "The Welcome Table" (thanks to children's singer Dan Zanes) and she accepted his offer. Today we were listening to a song in the car about Heaven and Blake asked when we would be able to go to Heaven. "I want to see Grammy and Jesus." I told him someday we will go. He asked me if we could fly there. I said, "Why not? But how would we fly there?" Blake told me that we would take a hot air balloon. He then said that we needed to bring bagels to Jesus for dinner. How thoughtful of Blake, considering that Jesus would normally insist we bring nothing! He then told me that Parker would need to take his own hot air balloon, as the two of us would be traveling together. BYOB. (Bring your own Balloon) Check check.

Update (June 14th, 2008): As of last Sunday, and a trip to Seattle Children's Theatre, Blake decided a direct route to heaven would consist of taking the elevator to the top of the Space Needle. Makes sense.

You're How Old?

Blake is in this highly annoying phase where his favorite toy, is the toy that Parker is playing with. This could change 10 times in 5 minutes, but he is insistent that it is only fair that he plays with that toy, because not only is it his favorite, but also his most beloved color. He was playing on Parker's floor while I was changing Parker, who was holding a green car. Obviously, this would upset Blake, being that the red car he was holding, would no longer do the job. He told me that Parker took it from him and he wanted it back. I began to explain that just because Parker has a toy, doesn't mean he has to have it, blah blah, you are in Parker's room, blah blah, and I am interrupted with...... "Whoa whoa whoa. Mommy. Slow down here." Really? He put his hands up, jazz fingers flared and commanded me to "slow down". He then went on to remind me that in our house we share toys, no matter whose room we are in, and that it would be the best choice for me to apologize to him. Wow. Nap time came a little quicker today.
